If there’s anything we’ve learned over the past couple of years, it’s that we’re all swapping out our regular wardrobe basics for debut styles. And according to the New York Fashion Week Fall 2022 shows, the revival of the micro-mini skirt trend is still going strong.
With the rise of “going out” outfits continuing to take over our wardrobes well into 2022, it looks like we’ll be seeing the super cropped silhouette even as the temperatures drop. So far at New York Fashion Week, we’ve spotted the micro-mini skirt in all styles and fabrics suitable for the colder months, like Christian Cowan’s tweed set, Kim’s fuzzy and tiny versions. Shui, Dauphinette and LaQuan Smith’s pleated tennis style is barely there to follow the trend, to name a few. (There are still more shows to come for Fall 2022, after all.)
The tiny silhouette was first popular in the late 60s and 70s, defying the societal norms of the time, but throughout pop culture history we’ve seen the risque look become even more runs from celebrities like 90s Pamela Anderson, who was often seen in mini go-to style, to 2000s icons like Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton around the early 2000s. also captured today in the coveted mini skirt, like Bella Hadid, Rihanna, Olivia Rodrigo, Megan Fox and countless others. Now, it turns out, we’re expecting a lot more little skirt cameos throughout fall and winter.
