KATMANDU: The hearing on all types of cases, including habeas corpus, was held in the Supreme Court on Monday.
Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana had assigned a hearing on all types of cases, including habeas corpus.
A bench of division judges – Tej Bahadur KC and Dr Kumar Chundal conducted a hearing in the habeas corpus case and issued an order. Likewise, a division chamber composed of Judges Prakash Kumar Dhungana and Kumar Regmi had also conducted a hearing in a habeas corpus case.
A single bench of Chief Justice Rana had conducted hearings on all types of cases. CJ Rana had assigned 10 courtrooms (eight division benches and two single benches).
Excluding hearing attributed to 10 benches – the hearing took place under two division benches and one under a single bench on Monday.
No hearing has taken place before the Supreme Court since October 25. The hearing was only held in habeas corpus-related cases due to the strike by lawyers and judges.
In issuing a press release on Monday, CJ Rana called on the Supreme Court Bar Association in protest to sit for a dialogue to resolve existing issues facing the justice system.
