Hc gives a girl 3 days to decide whether to marry | Bhopal News

BHOPAL/JABALPUR: A 19-year-old woman, who appeared in court via video link in response to a habeas corpus petition, was asked by a High Court Division Bench on Monday to take some more time before decide on his marriage and postpone hearing of the case for 3 days.
Faisal Khan, a resident of Hoshangabad, had filed a habeas corpus petition, claiming that his mistress, who is Hindu, is being held in a Nari Niketan because she wanted to marry him. He argued that she is an adult and can decide whom to marry.
The woman told the bench of Judge Sheel Nagu and Judge Sunita Yadav that she wanted to marry Faisal and that he would convert to her religion (Hinduism) before marriage. She had started living with him in January, but her father filed a missing person’s report with the police. Both told police they wanted to live together, then moved to Bhopal.
Last week, they were summoned by the police to record their statement before the SDM. After she was abducted, the police took her to a Nari Niketan.
At the previous hearing, the judges had requested that she be presented in court. On Monday, she told the court that she wanted to marry the petitioner and that she had been forcibly detained in the Nari Niketan.
Following her statement, the court said that she was only 19 years old and that instead of hastily deciding on her marriage, she should take more time to reflect and postpone the hearing of the case of three days. Lawyer Md Rizvan Khan appeared for the petitioner.
